Insane at Canton on the 29th. instant and submit a report on the
same:"
Management.
The hospital is managed by a Board of Trustees con-

The institution is registered in the United States Consulate at Canton giving it a legal Standing corresponding to incorporation
in America.
Staff.
This consists of:-
Chas. C. Selden, Ph.D.,M.D. (absent on leave)
J. A. Hofmann, Ph.B., H.D.
Ho Tsz Yin, H.D. and
Rev. Mr. A. Alf (who is accountant and general manager).Dr. Selden has devoted most of his time to lunacy. Dr. Hofmann previous
to taking up the work 5 years ago, spent a year in the State Asylum of New York (4,500 beds) so that the staff may be con- -sidered experts in their special branch of Medicine.
The current expenses are met by subscriptions ised in Canton and America and by fees charged for admission. There are numbers of "free" patients, no case being refused
admission on any ground but want of room.
The hospital is situated at Fong T'suan almost opposite the Shameen and covers b acres of ground. It is entirely
surrounded by a high brick wall.
